1980
March 27: in the North Sea oil platform collapses Norwegian Alexander Kielland, 123 persons dying of its crew of 212 people

December 8: New York, John Lennon (member of British rock group The Beatles) is assassinated by Mark David Chapman, a mentally disturbed who wanted to become a musician.

1981
April 1: U.S. launching the first mission of a space shuttle.

February 23 in Spain, members of the Civil Guard in front of lieutenant colonel Antonio Tejero Molina, entering the Congress of Deputies shot and interrupt the meeting, while it was conducting the vote for president to appoint Leopoldo Calvo Sotelo. The attempted coup was followed unevenly captaincies by the Spanish army generals, despite the Captain-General of Valencia, Jaime Milans del Bosch, ordered a curfew in the city and brought tanks to patrol the streets, as well as the Division Acorazada Brunete, quartering near Madrid was partially mobilized.

1982

1985
February 21: The U.S. government suspended military relations with New Zealand and no longer regarded as an ally country.

March 1: Uruguay is restored democracy with the assumption of Julio Maria Sanguinetti as president.

1986

1987

Dec. 21 - Bombing of Lockerbie killed 270 people.

1989
February 6 - Thirty thousand Soviet soldiers leave Afghanistan, while the capital, Kabul, was plunged into chaos.

September 1 - Argentina, Entel is privatized by decree of President Carlos Menem.

1980 April 30 - Queen Juliana of the Netherlands abdicates, and her daughter Beatrix ascends to the throne

1981 April 12 - The Space Shuttle program: Space Shuttle Columbia (John Young, Robert Crippen) launches on the STS-1 mission, returning to Earth on April 14


1982 June 5 – The first Rubik's Cube World Championships is held in Budapest, Hungary.


1983 July 28 - New South Wales premier Neville Wran is exonerated by the Street Royal Commission, over claims raised by ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corporation) programme Four Corners, that he attempted to influence the NSW magistracy.

1984 August 30 - STS-41-D: The Space Shuttle Discovery takes off on its maiden voyage

1985 April 23 - Coca-Cola changes its formula and releases New Coke. (The response is overwhelmingly negative, and the original formula is back on the market in less than 3 months.)

1986 january 28 - STS-51-L: Space Shuttle Challenger disintegrates 73 seconds after launch, killing the crew of 7 astronauts including schoolteacher Christa McAuliffe (see Space Shuttle Challenger disaster 1987 August 4 - The World Commission on Environment and Development, also known as the Brundtland Commission, publishes its report, Our Common Future


1988 Operation Praying Mantis was an April 18, 1988 attack by U.S. naval forces in retaliation for the Iranian mining of the Persian Gulf and the subsequent damage to an American warship.

1989 March 24 - Exxon Valdez oil spill: In Alaska's Prince William Sound the Exxon Valdez spills 240,000 barrels (11 million gallons) of oil after running aground.

If you dont like this type of entretaiment you can choose a place at the theatre Colon on of the most beatifull theater in Argentina, if you want to kwen more about this theater there are guide visits for turist.
if you like the nature you have the lujan zoo, there you can get on an elefant and touch the animal and feed them. It s beatifull and is a very good option to little chilfrend.
